 | 123ignition is proud to introduce an amazingly clever product!
Classic cars running on LPG always have a hand-operated tuning-valve in the feed-line to the LPG/AIR mixer, that sits on top of the carburetor. It is set once, right ?
Or maybe not ?
Indeed, it is possible to find a compromise for a good running engine, with acceptable consumption and emissions.
But the tuning-valve has to be opened wider for acceleration, or for driving in the mountains.....that's why in practice most people drive with a valve-opening that is way too high.
The new 123\LPG is an electronic valve that is approved throughout Europe.
With the help of a lambda-sensor in the exhaust, and a vacuum-connection below the throttle, the new 123\LPG does the optimization FOR you. Fully automatic and several times per second!
The result ? Power when you need it, and ALWAYS a clean and economic mixture !
( a 123\CNG is available for Compressed Natural Gas )
The latest version of the 123\LPG software is 1.5.0

The minimum system requirements for the 123-LPG software are :
• MS Windows XP
• 1 gigahertz (GHz) processor
• 256 megabytes (MB) RAM
• free (powered!) USB port
• USB cable with mini-B plug (male)

What is so new about it ?
Indeed, it is not new to control the gas-flow automatically. In fact we started with a system that we bought to improve one of our own classic cars. ( a Peugeot 404 )
After having paid a serious amount of money, we received an electronic box-of-tricks, a valve-with-steppermotor, an impressive wiring-loom, a couple of sensors and a copied installation-manual with a floppy-disc with software.
Well, I'll not bother you with all the details, but within a week we took it out of the car again....TOO COMPLEX and NOT THE QUALITY we were looking for.
This is in short the reason why we designed the 123\LPG ! We integrated everything into one little unit. No wiring loom, no separate box-of-tricks, no separate temperature- and pressure-sensors : just 5 wires and a vacuum-hose-to-the-inlet-manifold to connect !
How to adjust the 123\LPG ?
From the 123ignition-site Windows-software is available, that easily installs itself. By connecting the 123\LPG via a USB-interface, the unit can be set by entering
- the number of cylinders of your car
- the procentual default opening of the valve
- the minimum procentual opening of the valve
- the maximum procentual opening of the valve
After the engine is started, an attractive electronic dashboard shows all the important information, like : temperature, vacuum, lambda, engine-speed and ( off course ) the opening of the valve.
How about fuel efficiency ?
Well, that is always a tricky question! If one compares an average installation ( where the mixture is ALWAYS too 'rich' for obvious reasons ) and an installation with 123\LPG ( where the mixture is ALWAYS spot-on ), no need to say that you save quite some fuel. ( Our Peugeot404 is now 12 % more efficient for instance )
To save even more fuel, it is made possible to enter a vacuum-limit and an engine-speed, above which the valve will be closed completely! There's no need to use fuel during engine braking, is it ? This feature prevents backfires and explosions in the exhaust too!
