 grinding a 123ignition

Whilst installing a 123ignition in my Reliant Rialto, I've encountered an unforeseen problem. The Body above the shaft of the 123 is much wider as the original Lucas 45D4 Distributor. The 123ignition-Body now catches a small "step" in the engineblock. Currently it's not possible to insert the 123 deep enough, so the drive catches the engine internals.
Here you can see the problem in a photo:

It's about half a millimetre missing.
I'm now thinking about taking the 123-Body to a turning shop and getting this part of the body reduced.

Therefore I need the Info how thick the Body is at this part. Would it be save to reduce it's diameter by about half a Millimeter or more?
And: Would this destroy my warranty?

The body has plenty of solid aluminum there so you can safely grind of some of the side of the body where is obstructing or put it in a lathe if you wish.

Any manufacturer would say that something like this destroys warranty but as long as you have not done anything really stupid to destroy the unit the people from 123ignition are generally very generous about warranty.
