Where can I buy your ignition modules, how much do they cost, can I buy them directly from you?
We sometimes sell our units on oldtimer markets directly to end users, but otherwise you have to go to our local or postorder parts dealers.

You can also check with your local parts dealer or oldtimerclub where you can buy them, unfortunately we don't have enough staff to answer individual questions where you can buy our units.

Is there a 123 ignition module for my Citroën, Peugeot, Volvo, VW, Mercedes , BMW, xxxx?
Take a look at the wide range op 123ignition products.
Please compare the dimensions of the line drawings with your original distributor to be sure you have picked the right model. In the manual you will find the advance curves. When the advance curves doesn't match with your specific engine, probably the 123\TUNE. is the right choice for you. With the 123\TUNE. it is possible to program your own advance curve with the free PC software.

What is so special about the 123 ignition compaired to other electronic ignition systems
Other systems of electronic ignition (Lumenition, Newtronic & Multic etc) require that the original mechanical centrifugal advance system is still fitted, points – assisted systems (Boyer – Bransden etc.) even use the original points operating cam which suffers uneven wear and consequent lumpy running of the engine because each cylinder has its own inaccurate ignition timing. Furthermore they all require a separate box for the associated electronics.

’123ignition’ is different, all is contained in one simple module which just goes in place of the original points box, the points operating cam is removed along with the advance weights and their bearings which wear, two strong, small magnets slip onto the drive pins which previously held the advance weights, ‘123ignition’ is then simply bolted on.

Is it true that it is advisable to install a more powerful coil. If so, which one would you recommend?
On a 2cv: If you have a black 123ignition : DON'T use other coils. Best advise : buy a new black 2CV-coil, and new (silicone) ignition leads.

The more powerful VISA-coil can ONLY be used, in combination with a 123\EVO. ( the one with the vacuum-advance ) Using a VISA-coil, in combination with a 123\2CV, will destroy the ignition.

On all other 4 & 6 cylinder cars: if you use anything else then the original coil make sure its primary resistance is NOT lower than 1.5 Ohm. We have good experience with "Bosch Blue coil", "Bosch Red coil", "Beru ZS 106" and "Beru ZS 109".

Probably not, but if you want to take the risk and try it anyway it is up to you.

Obviously we do not guarantee that it will work, nor can we help you with any experiments or other data then what you can find on this site.

Can you supply ignition coils, ignition leads etc?
No, we only sell the products that are on the products page via our dealers, anything else you should be able to find at any car parts dealer for your car.

I installed an 123ignition 5 days ago. My 2cv runs on LPG (sometimes petrol). It now works better at low and medium speed but didn't improve the top speed. Idling is also much better and smoother, specially on LPG. Is this normal?
This is normal. Because of the somewhat steeper ignition-curve in the middle and low region, you indeed notice more torque there. Not so on high engine-speeds, because the 123-curve is optimized for petrol.

You may try to rotate the ignition a few degrees to the right, knowing that you are driving on LPG. The only real danger will be, that you ask too much of the engine, such that it pinks, when you drive on petrol.

Will my tachometer (RPM meter) work with a 123ignition distributor?
Yes, by far most of the tachometers work in combination with a 123ignition.
RVI type tachometers manufacturedby the Smiths Company, will not work properly though.

We have found two companies that offer solutions to this problem. They use the existingrev.counter to replace the electronics with another printed circuit board.
In the UK this is done by JDO-instruments ( www.jdo1.com ), and from the Netherlands
this is done by CASU-Utrecht ( www.casu.nl )

My tachometer /rev counter is driven directly from my mechanical distributor, so I cannot use a 123?
Sure you can! JDO-instruments ( www.jdo1.com ) and CASU ( www.casu.nl )

car instruments. When you replace your distributor, you can send your mechanical rev,counter to these guys, for conversion to an all-electronic instrument keeping the classic look

What operating systems does 123Tune run on?
123Tune runs on Windows XP Service Pack 2, Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8.

I have Windows XP. How can see what service pack I have installed?
Go to my computer, right click and select Properties. You will get a dialog where you can see the version and Service Pack.

During installation I get an message that I must install '.net 2.0'. Where can I download this package?

I have Windows XP. During installation I get a message that I must install Service Pack 2. Where can I download this?

When I connect the 123Tune, I get a message from Windows saying 'New Hardware Found, but could not find any drivers'?
Somehow the driver installation failed during setup. To fix this, connect your 123Tune and start the Driver Wizard from the start menu in the map Albertronic. Click next to start manual driver installation. Then a dialog will appear with “FTDI device ready to use”. Click finish and restart 123Tune.

I see the firmware version in the lower right corner, but I cannot download any curves. Sometimes the curve 1 and 2 buttons shortly flash. Why?
The very first time you connect the 123Tune to your PC or to another USB port, Windows will start installing the driver for the hardware. You will see messages in the system tray: “Installing device driver software” and “Your device is ready to use”. On some PC’s this activation breaks the communication with the device. Restart 123Tune after Windows has come up with the message “Your device is ready to use”.
