 | The 123\ROVER-8-R-V replaces most Lucas-distributors used in Rover-V8 engines.It also offers :

Not only is the array of nicely spaced advance-curves valuable for tuning a particular V8-engine, the manual also gives a cross-reference-list, linking most original Lucas distributors with a switch-position of the "123".
The unit comes as shown in the picture, with a 1/2 inch shaft, so that the drivedog from the original mechanical distributor can easily be mounted.
IMPORTANT : the "123\ROVER-8-R-V" is primarily suitable for SD1-engines as produced from 1976 onwards.
Rover P5- & P6- , early Range-Rover- and MGB-engines are all, if not converted already, referred to as "pre-SD1" ; the only difference is the slightly different shaft, as can be seen on the picture. ( top-left )
If you order a "123\ROVER-8-R-V-preSD1", the unit comes with the correct shaft mounted.
An LED for easy static timing is integrated into the 123 ; the design is layed-out in such a way that the static timingmark ( at Top-Dead-Center) of the engine can be used.

The 123\ROLLSROYCE-8-R-V replaces most Lucas-distributors used in Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow and Bentley T-series.
It also offers :

The 'factory-setting' for this unit is position '0'. This will give you the original advance- and vacuum- curve as specified for Rolls Royce and Bentley.
The 123\ROLLSROYCE-8-R-V should statically be installed at TDC ( end of the compression-stroke ) for cylinder number 1.
Checking the right amount of advance is best done with a stroboscope above 3200 rpm : the total advance crankshaft should be 36 degrees. ( with disconnected vacuum that is )
The 123\ROLLSROYCE-8-R-V not only exactly balances the amount of energy for each cylinder, it also calculates the optimum timing for each spark, in order to run the engine as smooth as possible!
The 123\ROLLSROYCE-8-R-V comes inclusive a specially designed drive-dog, that connects 'free of play' to the camshaft.
